Love Your Cutters?
Here’s How to Keep Them Like New
Cutter Care
Welcome to the Rockrose Clay family! With just a little care, your cutters will stay sharp and ready for countless creative projects. Here’s how to keep them in top condition.
Using Your Cutter
Work on a smooth surface like a ceramic or glass tile, and use a rolling pin to firmly secure the clay onto your workspace before cutting. To prevent sticking, dab your cutter on a makeup sponge lightly coated with Armor All (a silicone-based protectant), or dust the cutter or clay with cornstarch. Gently brush away any excess cornstarch before cutting. Press firmly and evenly along the cutter’s ergonomic top surface for a clean cut. Before lifting, gently wiggle the cutter to loosen it from the clay, then lift from multiple sides to help preserve the clay shape and prevent distortion. Always use well-conditioned clay for smooth, precise cuts.
Cleaning & Care
Hand wash cutters gently with warm, soapy water. Avoid dishwashers and harsh scrubbing to keep edges sharp. Store cutters in a cool, dry place, avoiding direct sunlight and high heat to prevent warping. Keep cutters separate when storing to protect edges.
Safety Note
These cutters are not food-safe and should be kept out of reach of children. When cutting, use firm but controlled pressure—too much force can dull or damage the edges, so a steady hand will keep your cutters sharp and lasting longer.
